The band is a concert band, and plays a wide variety of music: marches, show tunes, big band swing, polkas, and popular favorites. The brass ensemble is a smaller, brass-instrument group.
The band and brass ensemble are always open to anyone who would like to join. Bring your instrument and a music stand and have fun!
Monday evening rehearsals have started back up. Check back for dates on upcoming performances.
The band has performed since 1982 at venues within Rockwell Collins facilities and around the community.
We are sponsored through Rockwell Collins Employee Services, and receive financial support from the company to purchase new music and supplies. Additionally, band members pay $10 dues each year as a way to help offset incidental expenses.
The Rockwell Collins Band consists of a concert band and a brass ensemble. Band members are all volunteers who play for the love of music, camaraderie, and the opportunity to perform within Rockwell Collins and the surrounding communities.
The concert band has had several directors over the years: Tom Mills, Jim Jezek, and Drew Miller.
Currently, the concert band uses the model of using several band members to direct songs. We also draw from the expertise of the conducting students from Coe College to help broaden their experiences in rehearsal and performance.
The band and brass ensemble provide opportunity for employees, retirees, spouses, and family members to share their musical talents.
We play from September to June, taking a break in July and August.
Both groups rehearse Monday evenings at the Iowa State Training Room (Building 154), which is next to the Rockwell Collins Rec Center.
